At Pathways School Gurgaon, we believe learning shouldn’t be limited to textbooks. That’s why real-world exposure is a major part of the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP). One common question is: "How does the IBCP prepare students for real careers?"

Our recent visit to Reliance Brands Limited (RBL) in Gurgaon gave a perfect answer.

Our Business Administration students from the World Academy of Career Programs (WACP) got to meet industry experts and explore the world of premium retail and brand management. It wasn’t just about listening but about experiencing the real business world firsthand.

A look inside luxury retail

During their visit to RBL — a leader in India’s luxury and lifestyle market — students discovered how global brands succeed in India. They learned about branding, customer experience, store design, and marketing strategies. They didn’t just observe; they explored how every detail impacts a brand’s success.

Students participated in:

  • A deep dive into RBL’s brand portfolio — understanding how luxury brands are positioned and marketed.
  • A guided tour of retail and corporate spaces — seeing how stores are set up to enhance customer experiences.
  • Conversations with senior leaders — learning how companies build strategies and focus on customer satisfaction.
  • An interactive innovation session — discussing trends like digital transformation, sustainability, and future careers in the retail world.

More than a field trip: Building career skills

This wasn’t just a tour. It was an authentic learning experience that connected classroom lessons with real-world challenges. Students could see how topics from their Personal and Professional Skills (PPS) and Career-related Studies (CRS) classes apply in business settings.

They practiced critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving — the exact skills they’ll need for future careers.

What our students said

The students were deeply inspired. Here's what a few had to say:

  • Ruhaan Malhotra (CP2): "It opened my eyes to what it takes to build a brand."
  • Shirin Malhotra (CP2): "It showed me how important innovation and customer experience are."
  • Arava Kataria (CP1): "Every small detail matters — this was something you can’t learn just by reading a textbook."

Why it matters

Visits like this show how powerful the IBCP approach is — blending academic learning with real-world career exposure. At Pathways, we are committed to giving our students these experiences so that they can move confidently into their futures.

Much of this success is thanks to our School Director, Capt. Rohit Sen Bajaj, whose vision and leadership continue to drive innovation and meaningful industry partnerships at our school.
